Google has added an interesting option to its signature search engine. To make it easier for users to navigate the content of viewed web pages and quickly find the information they are looking for, Google will highlight text fragments that appeared in the answer box in the search results.
In recent years, Google developers have been testing a content highlighting feature on web pages based on clicks on text fragments displayed in search results. It has now been announced that this feature is widely available and has become accessible in most browsers.
According to available data, transitions to the desired text will only occur when the search engine is able to determine its exact location on the page. It is noted that website owners do not need to make any changes to support this feature. In cases where the search engine cannot highlight the desired material from all content, the entire page will open, as it did before.
Interestingly, for Google's search engine, the mentioned feature is not something new. Since 2018, the highlighting of web page fragments based on user queries has been supported on AMP pages. In some instances, when transitioning from the search engine to any page using a mobile device, one may notice that the page automatically scrolls to the location of the text indicated in the query.
