The fifth corrective update for the Debian 10 distribution, which includes accumulated package updates and fixes in the installer. The release consists of 101 updates addressing stability issues and 62 updates resolving vulnerabilities.
Among the changes in Debian 10.5, there is a highlight on fixing in GRUB2, which allowed bypassing the UEFI Secure Boot mechanism and enabled the installation of unverified malware. To address this issue, the installer, GRUB2 bootloader, kernel packages, fwupd firmware, and shim layer have been updated with a new digital signature.
Packages have been updated to the latest stable versions, including
ClamAV, cloud-init, dbus, dpdk, fwupd, mariadb, nvidia-graphics-drivers, and postfix. Packages like golang-github-unknwon-cae, janus, mathematica-fonts, matrix-synapse, selenium-firefoxdriver, which were no longer maintained and had serious issues or were tied to changed APIs, have been removed.
For downloading and installing "from scratch," preparations will be made within a few hours , as well as with Debian 10.5. Previously installed systems that have been kept up to date receive the updates available in Debian 10.5 through the standard update installation system. Security fixes included in new Debian releases are made available to users as updates are released through the security.debian.org service.
