Distributions have resolved issues with GRUB2 updates

Major Linux distributions have released a corrective update for the GRUB2 bootloader package addressing issues, issues arising after the vulnerability BootHole. After the initial update, some users encountered inability download to boot their systems. Boot issues occurred on some systems with BIOS or UEFI in 'Legacy' mode, caused by regressions that, in certain situations, led to crashes during the boot process or incorrect detection of the boot device and improper installation of the bootloader.

The issue has been resolved in the following updates:

• Debian:
  grub2_2.02+dfsg1-20+deb10u2, grub2_2.02~beta3-5+deb9u2
• Ubuntu: grub-efi-*26.2, grub-efi-*8.17, grub-efi-*3.27, and grub-efi-*1.17.
• SUSE/openSUSE:
  shim-*el8_2 (RHEL 8) and shim*-15-8.el7 (RHEL 7).
• CentOS: shim-x64-15-15.el8_2.x86_64.rpm (CentOS 7) and shim-x64-15-8.el7_8.x86_64.rpm (CentOS 8). The packages have already been published on mirrors but have not been announced.
• In Fedora, the update addressing the BootHole vulnerability has not yet been released.
• In SUSE/openSUSE, no issues were found in the original update "grub2-2.02-4.53.1". Major Linux distributions have released a corrective update for the GRUB2 bootloader package addressing issues.
