Release of nginx 1.19.2 and njs 0.4.3

Created release of the main branch nginx 1.19.2, within which the development of new features continues (in the parallel stable branch branch 1.18 only changes related to fixing critical bugs and vulnerabilities are made).

Key changes:

  • Keepalive connections now begin to close before exhausting all available connections, with corresponding warnings logged.
  • An optimization for reading the client request body has been implemented when using chunked transfer.
  • A memory leak that occurred when using the 'ssl_ocsp' directive has been fixed.
  • The issue introduced in the previous release regarding the log output 'zero size buf in output' when returning an incorrect response from the FastCGI server has been corrected.
  • A worker process crash that occurs when different sizes of large_client_header_buffers are set in different virtual servers has been addressed.
  • The problem with improper SSL connection termination and the logging of warnings 'SSL_shutdown() failed (SSL: … bad write retry)' has been resolved.
  • Errors in the ngx_http_slice_module and ngx_http_xslt_filter_module have been corrected.

Simultaneously the release njs 0.4.3, a JavaScript interpreter for the nginx web server. The njs interpreter implements ECMAScript standards and allows extending nginx's capabilities for request processing through scripts in configuration. Scripts can be used in the configuration file for defining advanced logic for request processing, generating configurations, dynamically generating responses, modifying requests/responses, or quickly creating stubs to troubleshoot web applications. In the new version:

  • A Query String module has been added with functions for parsing the HTTP request query string.
  • Support for recursively creating and deleting directories has been added to the fs.mkdir() and fs.rmdir() functions.
  • A UTF-8 decoder has been added.
  • Support for TextEncoder and TextDecoder has been implemented to convert between character encodings and their Unicode representation (e.g., '(new TextDecoder()).decode(new Uint8Array([206,177,206,178]))').
