Notepad++ is blocked in China

Developers Notepad++, a free (GPLv3) code editor for Windows platform, informed on the introduction of a project ban in China. Despite supporting only the Windows platform, Notepad++ is very popular among Ubuntu users and ranks 5th among the most popular snap packages for developers (runs through Wine).

It is believed that the reason for the blocking of Notepad++ was the project's involvement in actions against the discrimination of Uyghurs and in support of protesters in Hong Kong. In particular, the latest release 7.8.9 was marked as a release in support of the freedom and autonomy of Hong Kong, while releases with 7.8.1 by 7.8.3 were supplied with a call against the oppression of Uyghurs.
