The Protox v1.6 update has been released, a mobile messaging application for user-to-user communication without a server, implemented based on the Tox protocol (with c-toxcore, the toktok project). This update aims to improve the client and its usability. Currently, only the Android platform is supported. The project is seeking iOS developers to port the application to Apple smartphones. Porting to other platforms is also possible. The project's code is distributed under the MIT license. Application builds are distributed under the GPLv3 license.
