The first beta release of FreeBSD 12.2 is now available. FreeBSD 12.2-BETA1 is available for amd64, i386, powerpc, powerpc64, powerpcspe, sparc64, and armv6, armv7, and aarch64 architectures. Additionally, images for virtualization systems (QCOW2, VHD, VMDK, raw) and Amazon EC2 cloud environments have been prepared. This is the FreeBSD 12.2 release. as of October 27.
The list of changes is currently limited to an empty template, but among the new features previously planned for inclusion in FreeBSD 12.2, the default implementation of the W^X (write XOR execute) protection technique can be noted. W^X implies that memory pages cannot be accessible for writing and execution simultaneously.
