A new release of the open source operating system has been published — 9front.
9front, Plan 9 (as well as Inferno) are operating systems that were ahead of their time, combining qualities such as utmost clarity and conciseness of fundamental abstractions.
Collectively, this results in a daunting architectural transparency and simplicity in solving complex problems, which can be intimidating for the average POSIX user.
In this release, we can expect the following improvements:
- The Intel driver now supports Wifi cards from the 8000/9000 series.
- Full functionality on Lenovo T480 and T495 laptops.
- A significant refactoring of the PCI code.
- Now 9front can be launched without hardware issues on the Raspberry Pi 4 with 8GB.
- New APIs for working with dates and times.
And many bug fixes and minor improvements.
- Multiple enhancements for 64-bit addressing support in device drivers.
- Fixes for the DNS client and servertorrent client and mail applications.
