On November 18, 2020, the long-awaited forum for software developers working with Elbrus microprocessors was opened by the employees of MCST.
The forum is configured to operate in a closed mode: unregistered users cannot read messages, and search engines cannot index the pages of the forum. To register on the forum, users must provide mandatory information: surname, first name, patronymic, contact phone number, position, organization name, and department (division). The last three points can be omitted if the user is a dealer, as personal information about such users is already known to the organizers. Forum participant activation is carried out manually by a group of administrators after verification and decision-making regarding access.
The forum is registered with specialists from MCST, experts, and partners. Representatives from the Russian Linux community, including authors from the BaseALT distribution, are also present on the forum. Judging by the leaking nicknames, there are already several long-time users from the Linux.org.ru site on the forum.
When registering on the forum, it is important to understand that the stringent registration requirements combined with the use of the unencrypted HTTP protocol are not a whim of the organizers and do not reflect incompetence, but rather fulfill regulatory requirements. The opening of the forum was delayed for several years due to organizational constraints, but a consensus has now been reached, allowing the Elbrus community forum to exist.
In connection with the forum's opening, a video address from MCST public relations specialist Maxim Gorshenin has been posted on YouTube, briefly discussing the new forum and the subsequent changes expected on official internet resources dedicated to the domestic microprocessor architecture Elbrus.
