A new version of the simple console text editor GNU nano 5.5 "Rebecca" was released on January 14.
In this release:
The set minibar option has been added, which displays a line with key editing information instead of the title bar.
This line shows the file name (plus an asterisk when the buffer is modified), cursor position (line, column), the character under the cursor (U+xxxx), flags, and the current position in the buffer (as a percentage of the file size).With the set promptcolor option, the color of the prompt line can be changed to highlight it among other interface elements.
The set markmatch option has been added, which enables highlighting search results.
The bound command nowrap has been renamed to breaklonglines to match the corresponding option, along with all other commands.
Support for Slang has been removed.
