Developers from the company Corellium, which specializes in virtualization on ARM chips, have successfully launched and achieved stable operation of the Ubuntu 20.04 distribution on the latest Apple Mac Mini.
Chris Wade even stated in his Twitter account the following:
“Linux is now fully usable on Apple M1. Booting the full Ubuntu desktop from USB. The network works through a USB hub. Our update includes support for USB, I2C, and DART. Soon we’ll upload the changes to our GitHub account and later the installation instructions...”
Earlier, Linus Torvalds expressed in an interview with a ZDNet correspondent concerning M1 chip support in that, until Apple reveals the chip's specifications, there will be obvious issues with its GPU and ‘other devices around it’ and so he does not plan to address this for now.
