Today marks the release of the final version of the Vivaldi browser 3.6 based on the open-source Chromium core. In this new release, the way tab groups work has been significantly changed — now, when you switch to a group, an additional panel automatically opens, displaying all the tabs within that group. If needed, users can pin the second panel for easier management of multiple tabs.
Among other changes, further enhancements to the customization of context menus have been made — menus for all side panels have been added, along with the introduction of a delayed loading option for web panels — this allows for faster browser startup when there are many user web panels, and proprietary media codecs for Linux systems have been updated to version 87.0.4280.66.
The new version of the browser includes numerous fixes, including incorrect tab switching when closing the active tab, issues with exiting full-screen mode while watching videos, and incorrect naming of the desktop shortcut for a page.
The Vivaldi browser employs its own synchronization system, thereby avoiding potential issues related to changes in Google's policy regarding the use of the Chrome Sync API.
