The release of aTox 0.6.0 has occurred — a new version of the free mobile messenger with open source code, using the Tox protocol (c-toxcore). Tox offers a decentralized P2P messaging distribution model, utilizing cryptographic methods for user identification and protecting transit traffic from interception. The application is written in Kotlin. The source code and compiled versions of the application are distributed under the GNU GPLv3 license.
Features of aTox:
- Open source: the ability to freely distribute, examine, and modify it.
- Convenience: simple and clear settings.
- End-to-end encryption: the only people who can see your messages are you and your correspondents.
- Decentralization: no central servers servers that can be shut down or from which your data can be handed over to outsiders.
- Lightweight: no telemetry, advertising, or other forms of surveillance on you, and the installer for the current version of the application is only 14 megabytes.

In future versions, the developer of aTox plans to add the following major features (from higher priority to lower priority): audio calls, video calls, and group chats. Additionally, many other smaller new features and improvements will be included.
