The release of the console file manager nnn 4.0 has been published, suitable for use on low-power devices with limited resources (memory usage around 3.5MB and an executable file size of 100KB). In addition to navigation tools for files and directories, it includes a disk space usage analyzer, an interface for launching programs, a file selection mode for vim, and a bulk file renaming system. The project code is written in C using the curses library and is distributed under the BSD license. It supports operation on Linux, macOS, BSD systems, Cygwin, Termux for Android, and in WSL for Windows, in the form of a vim plugin.
Key features include: detailed and compact information display modes, navigation while typing the file/directory name, tabs, a bookmarking system for quick access to frequently used directories, multiple sorting modes, a search system using masks and regular expressions, tools for working with archives, the ability to use a recycle bin, marking different types of directories with their own colors, the ability to preview videos and images, and functionality expansion through plugins (for example, there are plugins for viewing PDF files, encryption using GPG, and generating thumbnails for videos).
