Hello, Habr! For ten years I have been supporting Highload IT systems. I won’t write in this article about the issues of configuring nginx for operation at 1000+ RPS or other technical matters. I will share my observations on the problems in the processes that arise in the support and operation of such systems. Monitoring Technical Support does not wait for a request that says 'Why… […]
The Unified Register of Notifications about the characteristics of cryptographic means and goods containing them at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has information about two new smart speakers from Yandex. Recall that the first 'smart' column, the 'Yandex.Station', was presented by the Russian IT giant at the end of May last year. The device uses the intelligent voice assistant Alice. The release of Tor toolset 0.4.0.5 has been announced, used for organizing the operation of the anonymous Tor network. Many Firefox users around the world lost their usual set of extensions due to their sudden disablement. This incident occurred at midnight UTC on May 4 — the issue is related to the expiration of the certificate used for generating digital signatures. The evolution of motivation and incentive principles in the development of information systems and other high-tech products is ongoing. In addition to classic, purely monetary-capitalistic forms, alternative forms have long existed and are gaining increasing popularity. Half a century ago, tech giant IBM, as part of its 'Share' program, called for the free exchange of application programs for its mainframes, developed by third-party programmers (not charitable organizations).
Today, May 1, Valve will start taking pre-orders for its new Index virtual reality headset. Alongside this, the company revealed the specifications and features of its new device and, of course, announced the price. To get straight to the point — the price is a rather considerable $999 for a VR headset. So what does Valve offer us for nearly a thousand dollars?
At the end of 2018, the microblogging service Tumblr, owned by Verizon along with the other assets of Yahoo, changed its rules for users. Since then, adult content has been banned from the site, although prior to that, from 2007 onward, everything was limited to filtering and parental controls. As a result, the site lost about a third of its traffic within just three months. Now, […]
