The QEMU 8.2 project release has been announced. As an emulator, QEMU allows you to run programs built for one hardware platform on a system with an entirely different architecture; for instance, to execute an application for ARM on an x86-compatible PC. In virtualization mode, code execution performance in an isolated environment is close to that of a physical system due to direct instruction execution on the CPU and the involvement of […]

At a developer meeting in Cambridge, the issue of phasing out support for 32-bit architecture was discussed. In the interim, the preservation of the 32-bit repository is planned, with its eventual discontinuation coming later. Debian is moving towards discontinuing 32-bit builds for x86 systems.

At the recent developer meeting in Cambridge, the gradual phasing out of support for 32-bit x86 architecture (i386) was discussed. The plans indicate the cessation of creating official installation builds and kernel packages for 32-bit x86 systems, while still maintaining the availability of the package repository and the ability to deploy 32-bit environments in isolated containers. It is also planned to continue supplying the multi-arch repository and tools for building […]

Due to limitations of the Wayland protocol […]
