Or what to keep in mind when developing a dark mode for an application or website. The year 2018 showed us that dark modes are on the way. Now that we're already halfway into 2019, we can confidently say: they are here, and they are everywhere. An example of an old 'green-on-black' monitor. Let's start by noting that dark mode is not a new concept at all. It has been used […]
In the first part, I attempted to explain to hobbyist electronics enthusiasts who have grown out of Arduino overalls why and how they should read datasheets and other documentation on microcontrollers. The text became lengthy, so I promised to show practical examples in a separate article. Well, here I am. Today, I will show how to use datasheets to solve some quite simple yet necessary tasks for many projects […]
Slurm indeed provides an entry point into Kubernetes or helps you enhance your knowledge. Participants are satisfied. Only a few found that they did not learn anything new or solve their problems. Only one person requested the first day's unconditional money-back guarantee ('If you feel Slurm is not for you, we will refund the full price of the ticket'), justifying it by saying they overestimated their abilities. Next […]
Modern data centers require a careful approach to power supply. It's essential to simultaneously monitor load conditions and manage equipment connections. This can be accomplished using cabinets, modules, or power distribution units. In our post, we discuss which type of power equipment is best suited for specific situations, illustrated by Delta's solutions. Powering a dynamically developing data center often proves to be a challenging task. […]
In the Firefox 68 release, expected on July 9, the inclusion of a new default add-ons manager (about:addons), completely rewritten in HTML/JavaScript using standard web technologies, has been approved. The new interface for managing add-ons has been developed as part of an initiative to eliminate XUL and XBL-based components from the browser. To evaluate the functionality of the new interface before Firefox 68, you can adjust settings in about:config […]
On June 6, 2019, after four years of development, Exaile 4.0.0 was released — an audio player with extensive music management capabilities, extendable with plugins, of which there are over fifty. Changes: The playback engine has been rewritten. The graphical interface has been rewritten using GTK+3. The speed of processing large music libraries has been improved. The placement of some buttons has been fixed for RTL localization. The tag editor's response to scrolling has been fixed […]
The idea of writing code without writing code (yes, yes, writing — the gerund of the verb to write, now live with that) has crossed the minds of both smart people and just lazy ones. The dream of a graphical interface, within which you can throw one block onto another, draw mutual connections, and select properties of objects from cute dropdown lists, has […]
Hello, Habr! After several months of waiting, we finally received it: ONYX BOOX has released its first reader of the 2019 model year, and this is the professional version of the electronic book Nova, which was very successful last year. The advantage of the new device is that it has an additional WACOM touch layer (along with a stylus, of course) and an application for creating […]
WARNING Judging by the record-high ratio of silently dissatisfied individuals to commentators who have something to say, it's not obvious to many readers that: 1) This is purely a theoretical discussion article. There won't be practical recommendations for choosing cryptocurrency mining tools or assembling a multivibrator to blink two bulbs. 2) This is not a popular science article. There won't be an explanation for beginners […]
Background Once, to reproduce a bug, I needed a backup of the production database. To my surprise, I encountered the following limitations: The database backup was made on SQL Server 2016 and was not compatible with my SQL Server 2014. On my work computer, Windows 7 was used as the OS, so I could not upgrade SQL Server to a version […]
The philosophy of DevOps, where development connects with software maintenance, is no longer surprising anyone. A new trend is gaining momentum — DevOps 2.0 or BizDevOps. It unifies three components: business, development, and support. Just as in DevOps, engineering practices form the basis for the connection between development and support, in BizDevOps, analytics takes on the role of unifying these elements.
