Ceph: The first practical course in Russian

Ceph user communities are filled with stories of how everything broke, didn't start, fell off. Does this mean the technology is bad? Not at all. This means development is underway. Users stumble upon technology bottlenecks, find recipes and solutions, and send patches upstream. The more experience with the technology, the more users bet on it, the more problems and solutions will be described. The same thing happened very recently with Kubernetes.

Ceph has come a long way from Sage Whale's 2007 PhD project to Whale's takeover of Inktank by Red Hat Corporation in 2014. And now many of the bottlenecks of Ceph are already known, many cases from practitioners can be studied and taken into account.

On September 1, the beta test of our hands-on video course on Ceph starts. We will teach you how to work with technology stably and efficiently.

Ceph: The first practical course in Russian

We decided to initially test the hypothesis, how interesting the technology is, how much the community wants to understand it - and 50 participants pre-ordered the course at this moment.

The sooner you join a course evaluation, the more impact you can have on
the final version of the course - and save, of course, too. Your questions and difficulties with mastering Ceph will become part of the course - so you will receive from people who have touched all the insides of the technology with their hands and work with it every day, exactly the knowledge that you need for work.

You can view the final program and discount for beta testers at course page.

At the very beginning of the course, you will receive systemic knowledge of basic concepts and terms, and upon completion, you will learn how to fully install, configure and manage Ceph.

By September 1, the topics will be ready:

What is Ceph and what is it not?
β€” Overview of architecture;
- Integration of Ceph with common Cloud Native solutions.

By October 1st you will receive:

- Ceph installation;
- Ceph monitoring;
- Ceph performance. Performance math.

By October 15:

- All the rest.

In the course, we will answer the questions ... Is it possible to run a database on Ceph under high load? What settings need to be made? Is it possible to make network storage on Ceph comparable in performance to a local disk? How to configure Ceph so as not to worry about the safety of data and so that the crash of the node does not affect the operation of Ceph? For which tasks is Ceph suitable and for which it is not? When can you implement Ceph technology? And to many others.

Course speaker:

Vitaly Filippov. Developer-expert in the company CUSTIS, Linuxoid, "cefer". Engaged in development on React, Node.js, PHP, Go, Python, Perl, Java, C++, involved in infrastructure tasks. Tested and researched Ceph code, uploaded patches to upstream. Has in-depth knowledge of Ceph performance, author of the Wiki article "Ceph PerformanceΒ».

There will also be other practical speakers as the course develops.

By October 15th, participants will receive a Ceph course practically customized to their wishes, pains, and questions.
