How LANIT equipped a dealing center in Sberbank with engineering and IT systems

At the end of 2017, the LANIT group of companies completed one of the most interesting and exciting projects in its practice - Dealing center of Sberbank in Moscow.

From this article, you will learn how exactly the "daughters" of LANIT equipped a new house for brokers and met in record time.

The dealing center belongs to the turnkey construction projects. Sberbank already had its own dealing center. It was located in the Romanov Dvor business center, between the Okhotny Ryad metro station and the Lenin Library. The rent turned out to be too high, so the management of Sber decided to move the traders to their territory: to the head office on Vavilova, 19. However, the premises first had to be designed and refurbished so that the brokers could continue working on the very first day after the move.

Before starting work, the specialists of the company JP Reis (experts in the field of building dealing centers abroad) conducted an audit of the facility, analyzed the project. They offered the bank to extend the lease of an office in the center for another six months. The consultants did not believe that the contractors could cope in such a short time - seven months.

The project went to a company from our group β€” β€œINSYSTEMS". She became a general contractor. Its specialists performed complex design, general construction and finishing works, installed power supply, fire and general safety systems and mechanical systems (general ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, heating, water supply and sewerage).

The IT infrastructure in the dealing center had to be created from scratch. For this work, "INSYSTEMS" decided to involve "LANIT-Integration". Together with the company, nine other contractors worked on IT systems. The project started in June 2017.

The project deadline is December 5th. On this day, the lease of the area in the center of the capital ended. Traders needed to move to a new location. Trading in the market does not tolerate downtime, because every minute of inactivity costs money (often a lot).

What is a dealing center and why is it needed?A dealing center is a financial platform that acts as an intermediary between a client and the global foreign exchange market. If the client wants to buy or sell financial asset, he turns to a broker who trades on a specially equipped platform. It is on this site that commercial transactions are made in real time. In modern dealing centers, trading takes place on computers with specialized software.
According to the terms of reference, it was necessary to install 12 IT systems at the facility. LANIT-Integration designed most of them, except for TraderVoice, IP telephony and unified communications systems.

At the design stage, the specialists of the general contractor and the integrator carefully thought out the schedules for the execution of work, the supply of equipment, and synchronized all this with each other. However, they still faced difficulties.

  • There was one freight elevator for twenty-five floors in the building, and very often it was busy. Therefore, I had to use it early in the morning and in the evening, after the end of the working day.
  • There were size restrictions for cars that could drive into the loading / unloading area. Because of this, the equipment was transported in small batches on small trucks.

Technical part

The work in the dealing center was divided into six zones. It was to be done:

  • trading floor in the open space format;
  • premises for those divisions that support the work of traders;
  • executive offices;
  • meeting rooms;
  • TV studio;
  • reception.

When planning the work, the companies encountered several features of the project.

  • High reliability of all engineering systems

The size of each transaction is quite high, so even a few minutes of downtime can lead to lost profits of hundreds of millions of dollars. Such conditions imposed additional responsibility in the design of engineering systems.

  • Attention to design solutions

The customer wanted not only a high-tech, but also a beautiful dealing center, from the look of which there will be a wow effect. At first, the trading floor was decorated in dark colors. Then the customer decided that the room should be bright. The LANIT-Integration team urgently reordered equipment, and INSYSTEMS released about a dozen interior design solutions.

  • High employee density

On an area of 3600 sq. m were to accommodate 268 jobs, which were to install 1369 PCs and 2316 monitors.

Each trader had from three to eight PCs and up to twelve monitors on the table. When they were chosen, every centimeter of size and watt of heat dissipation was taken into account. For example, we settled on a monitor model that generated 2 watts less heat than the closest competitor. A similar situation was with the system unit. We chose the one that is one and a half centimeters less.

Heat

Normal split systems failed to install. First, they wouldn't be able to handle that amount of power without a health hazard to the dealers. Secondly, the trading floor has a glass roof, split systems have nowhere to go.

There was an option to supply cooled air through the raised floor space, but given the density of seating and the structural limitations of the existing building, this option had to be abandoned.

Initially, INSYSTEMS did a project on technology BIM. The corresponding model was used for mathematical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes in the atrium zone.

For several months, a dozen options for air distribution, placements and types of climatic devices were worked out. As a result, we found the best option, provided the customer with a map of the distribution of air flows and temperatures, and clearly justified our choice.

The ventilation unit was placed along the perimeter of the trading floor, on the balcony and in the atrium. So, for the optimal climate in the atrium they are responsible:

  • central air conditioners with a 50% reserve, a full cycle of air treatment and cleaning in the disinfection section;
  • VRV systems with the ability to work in cooling and heating mode;
  • atrium recirculation systems for protection against condensate and excess heat loss.

The distribution of air in the room is made according to the scheme "top-upΒ».

By the way, another puzzle awaited in the INSYSTEMS atrium. It was necessary to protect the workplaces of traders from direct sunlight, which interferes with work, in the space of a fully glazed room. The metal structures of the atrium were originally designed to withstand the load from glass and snow. The company's experts examined the building and premises. As a result, a solution was found without strengthening existing structures. Five baffles (triangular steel shapes sheathed with decorative fabric) were installed under the glazing. They simultaneously performed four important functions:

  • served as a screen from the sun's rays;
  • allowed to hide engineering communications in their space;
  • made it possible to properly integrate acoustic equipment;
  • became a decorative decoration of the room.

electricity and light

For uninterrupted power supply of the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, INSYSTEMS installed a diesel generator set and uninterruptible power supplies. Traders' workstations are connected to the power supply via two mutually redundant lines. The UPS is designed to run for up to 30 minutes in normal mode and 15 minutes in emergency mode when one UPS fails.

The dealing center has an intelligent lighting system. It is controlled by a special Dali protocol and has many workspace lighting scenarios. The technology allows you to perform individual smooth adjustment of brightness for each workplace. There is an energy-saving mode, when the brightness is reduced when there is sufficient sunlight or during non-working hours. Presence sensors recognize people in the room and automatically control the lights.

Structured Cabling System

To organize data transmission in the dealing desk, SCS was organized with intelligent monitoring of five thousand ports. There was very little space in the server room, as in the entire dealing center. However, INSYSTEMS still managed to fit compact switching cabinets (800 mm wide, 600 mm deep) into this space and neatly distribute 10 cables in them. There was also an option to use open racks, but for security reasons, the different networks had to be physically isolated from each other and placed in different cabinets with access control.

Fire fighting systems

The team of the LANIT group of companies was at the operating facility and had to intervene in its work. For example, INSYSTEMS specialists were engaged in the fire protection system of the entire building.

The building where the dealing center is located has common evacuation routes with the rest of the buildings. The number of employees has increased, in connection with which it was necessary to check the possibility of safe evacuation in the new conditions. In addition, fire protection systems were combined with similar systems in other buildings to work together. It was a requirement. All these factors required the development and approval by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of special technical conditions (STU) - a document that defines the fire safety requirements for a particular facility.

Constructive decisions

The equipment of the dealing center required taking into account the level of load on the building structure. The dealing center more than doubled the number of permanent jobs. The roof, which was practically empty before, turned out to be 2% filled with heavy equipment (outdoor units of air conditioners, ventilation units, compressor and condenser units, pipelines, air ducts, etc.). Our specialists examined the condition of the structures and generated a report. Next, verification calculations were performed. Strengthened the structure of the building, added beams and columns in places where the strength of the existing structures was not sufficient (contact zones of consoles, places under the equipment on the roof, server rooms).

Workplace of the trader

Each trader has 25 electrical outlets and 12 structured cabling outlets at their workplace. Under the raised floor there is not a centimeter of free space, cable is everywhere.

Separately, it is worth talking about the trader's table. It costs 500 thousand rubles. Office chair made by an Italian design studio Pininfarina, which, for example, worked on the design of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari.

The keyboard of traders is also special. Built into it KVM switch. It helps to switch between monitors and PC. Also in the keyboard there are mechanical and touch key blocks. They are needed so that the specialist can quickly, for example, confirm or cancel the operation using the keys.

The trader also has a phone on the table. It is different from the ones we use. The dealing center uses high-reliability models with three-fold power redundancy and two-fold network redundancy. You can use two handsets, an external microphone for hands-free calling and a wireless headset. Bonus: the trader has the opportunity to listen to TV channels through one of the handsets. It is usually loud in a dealing center, so it is very convenient to perceive information from TV in this way.

By the way, about the TV system. There are two LED screens hanging along the perimeter in the dealing room - 25 and 16 meters each. In sum, these are the longest panels in the world with a pixel pitch of 1,2 mm. According to the characteristics, the screens in the Zaryadye Park media center are the same, but they are smaller there. It is especially beautiful that the screens in the dealing center have smooth corners. At the corners, the panel has a smooth transition.

A few more words about smaller-scale implementations. LAN is divided into three different segments: general banking, closed banking and the CIB segment, where the dealer systems themselves are located. All printing devices are equipped with an access control function. That is, if a trader wants to print something, he sends a print job, goes to the printer, then brings the employee's card and receives exactly the document that he sent for printing.
It's very loud in the dealing center. Noise-suppressing panels cannot be placed in open space, we decided not to install partitions (there is not enough space, they do not fit with the design). We decided to introduce a background noise masking system (generation of sound waves at certain frequencies). Superimposed over all frequencies pink noise and conversations, cries, exclamations are masked.

The trading floor regularly hosts performances, reports and interviews. There are many foreign dealers. To do this, they made a room for simultaneous interpreters.

In the television studio, you can shoot reports, broadcast live. The picture quality is suitable for federal channels.

INSYSTEMS handed over the project in December. As planned, on the 5th. The auditors from JP Reis (who did not believe that they could meet the deadline) were, to put it mildly, surprised by this result and praised the general contractor of the project.

Traders did not miss a single trading day. They left the old dealing center on a Friday night, and on Monday morning they were already out on the new floor.

When working on a project of this magnitude, LANIT group companies gained tremendous experience. And Sberbank received one of the largest dealing centers in Europe and the largest in Russia.

INSYSTEMS and LANIT-Integration still have many interesting and equally large projects ahead. They are waiting for you in their teams.
