How I made TK in Gruzovichkof or IT in Russian

Disclaimer

The purpose of this article is to show what young programmers should beware of first of all, who, in pursuit of good money for this country, are ready to write applications for free, not knowing the real cost of such work. I myself got caught - I myself describe the experience. The vacancy mentioned in this article is freely available and anyone can get acquainted with its content and salary for this position. The names in the article have been changed. Enjoy reading.

I have been freelancing almost all my life, but at the same time, I have the status “Open to offers” on Habr Career in order to sooner or later find such an offer that can force even me to exchange comfortable freelancing for work “for my uncle”. By the way, a couple of offers a month, and even more, I get guaranteed. And then one day in the evening I received another response (in a personal, as in most cases) from a certain "HR company" Gruzovichkof "". Let's call her Giselle. The message contained a link to the vacancy and an offer to send them your e-mail so that they could send a test task there. Having opened a vacancy, I was extremely surprised by the suspiciously high level of salary indicated in it for a non-IT company. Well, as high, exactly as much as a senior should ideally receive with an eye to Europe (it’s hard to find such salary in our country, most often they are limited to a set of middles for a lower salary at times, but when a non-IT company recruits seniors, while promising salary as for seniors, and the vacancy offers exactly programming, and not a managerial position (because often this is already a managerial position, and in this case, these duties are specifically specified in the vacancy in case a person wants to program, and not manage people), and it’s trite for android - this is strange, because what kind of tasks do they have there if they lack the qualifications of middles for 150k?). The TOR itself was to create a full-fledged application from two screens. Gisele also notified me that after the successful completion of the TOR, there will still be a technical interview. Even at that stage, it seemed a little strange to me, since by that time I was receiving feedback from small studios engaged in custom development, as well as large IT companies (yes, the same one too), and none of them asked me to write any code at all, all limited to oral interviews. And then I think, well, actually a great idea, finally at least someone is interested in my code, and not abstract conversations (because, as Linus Torvalds said, “Chatter is worth nothing. Show me the code”), and then also discuss him with a techie who will ask to explain why I solved this problem in this way, and nothing else. Well, beauty! Why hasn't a single company introduced this into practice yet? Well, probably because I just haven’t appreciated all the advantages of this approach yet! Unfortunately, our psyche tends to look for explanations that are logical in its opinion for any oddities.

So, having completed it in three days, I sent her a link to the repository on Github and the finished apk, and began to wait for an answer. A day later, she notified me that everything was received. I went back to my business and waited, thinking about it from time to time, and sometimes thinking about what I should write to her and find out how things are going, as often they forget to notify all candidates in case of refusal, and this is normal, we all people, in the end, who needs it more, them or us? Having written to her in Telegram, I found that he had ceased to be read, the same with the personal on the Career. Having waited to calm my conscience when the full week of waiting was over, I wrote to the corporate e-mail of their personnel department and described my situation, explaining that it seemed strange to me, because maybe a person went missing, but no one knows about it. She answered me literally in five minutes (which means that such a person really works for them in the state, and not someone created this vacancy on behalf of Gruzovichkov in order to receive free labor to create applications for Android in this way). Most likely, my letter was forwarded to her, because in the response letter I was asked what vacancy and in what city I mean. She wrote that she was alive and well, and apologized several times for such a delay in answering, and assured that she would definitely orient me “tomorrow” by feedback. I say it’s okay, it happens, we are all people, maybe I really forgot, I’m not the only one with them, but at the same time, my intuition was already screaming in my ear that something strange was going on here. There is no need to say that neither "tomorrow", nor in a week, I was "guided". It is interesting that my message in Telegram has not yet been read. The vacancy itself is already in the archive.

For it is one thing to completely forget about a person when people just crossed paths and discussed some details, and another thing is to “forget” about him when he has already repeatedly reminded himself of himself. Maybe I don’t understand something in this life, but if someone would write to me after that himself, I would have remembered this for a long time and thought about how bad it turned out, after that I would forget about this person ( in any case about this situation) I, I think, would never have succeeded.

Perhaps this is not an option when a non-IT company can assemble a full-fledged application for itself (or others) bit by bit, and perhaps even more than one, the point is in the approach itself, and such strange disappearances of HRs, when, after receiving the task, instant messengers and a personal are read, and mail is ignored. And this article might not have existed if the performance of test tasks would have been a widespread practice when applying for a job, however, in my entire life I have communicated in total with several dozen HRs of different companies. Maybe I was so lucky, but what is - is.

Be careful even in the IT world of large companies, and always remember where you live. Thank you for attention!
