We continue our series of reviews of desktop devices. This time we have chosen an IP phone for you Snom D315. This is one of the younger models in the line. D3xx, which has features characteristic of its line in appearance, but slightly different in design. Welcome to our review!

Unpacking and packaging
A phone box of a unified size, indicating the model of the device and the initial software version on a special sticker. The box contains:
- Telephone set
- Quick Start Guide
- Stand
- Category 5E Ethernet cable
- Tube and twisted cord for its connection
Unpacking the phone, you notice the unusual location of the device, it is located at the bottom of the box, while the cables, stand and instructions are located at the top.
Design
Appearance of the device is classic for IP-phones. The shape of the case reminds us of belonging to the D3xx series: slightly raised to the top, the case in a smooth wave reduces its thickness at the bottom. The series is also indicated by the MWI indicator located in the middle of the upper frame of the display and the rounded dial keys. Otherwise, the device is made in a slightly simpler manner than older brothers, ΠΈ .
The BLF-keys here, although they are located on the phone case, do not have a separate screen for displaying values, the inscriptions are applied to the insert located under the transparent plastic. Keys with light indication phone has five. By default, they are already programmed with certain functions, but you can change their functionality through the web interface of the IP phone.
The device has a horizontally elongated graphic screen. Below it are context keys and navigation buttons. Under the joystick there is a block of keys for controlling the sound, again forcing us to recall the older models of the series. The block includes a volume rocker, a speakerphone key and a headset.
Part of the phone's connectors are habitually located on the back of it in the recess of the case. These are the handset, headset and EXT-connector for connecting the expansion panel. The rest of the ports are located behind the screen, on the body plane perpendicular to it. Here are the network ports, power connector and USB port.
This arrangement of ports is dictated by ergonomics, those connectors that are rarely reconnected to are located on the back of the phone and are partially covered by a stand, and those that constantly require access during work are moved to a place accessible to the user and administrator.
Software and setup
Let's go to the web interface of our phone and remember how the function keys of the phone are configured in general and BLF keys in particular. As you probably already know, almost any function key can be customized on our phones. Let's go to the corresponding menu and look at the setting in more detail.
Most of the functionality is available for all keys, of course, with the exception of the subscriber's busy indication. For each of the keys, you need to select the usage type and specify the number if the feature usage is associated with the subscriber's number, such as in BLF or speed dialing. The specifics of setting this device is that there is no need to specify a label for BLF keys from the phone settings interface.
Functionality and operation
During operation, the phone is pleasant, the function keys are enough for everyday work. In general, when working with this device, the word βenoughβ constantly appears in my head. This is exactly what our engineers wanted to see this IP phone in the development process, easy to set up and operate, which means convenient, and functional enough to be not inferior to other IP phones.
Despite the general unpretentiousness of the model, the sound of the device remains at its best, providing the user with good audibility of the interlocutor, thanks to the high-quality speakers of the handset and speakerphone. The microphones of the device are highly sensitive, and the frequency range they capture is adjusted to minimize noise in our own acoustic laboratory.
Like the older brothers from the D3xx line, the D315 is equipped with an ergonomically shaped handset, which increases the convenience of working with the device. As with other models of our production, it uses electronic, not a mechanical end button. This allows us to minimize potential mechanical failures of frequently used components and thus ensure all our products 3 years warranty.
Accessories
Snom D315 has 5 built-in BLF keys, which is enough for daily work, but not enough for monitoring a large number of employees. If you need the latter, you can add an extension panel to the device D3having "on board" 18 keys with two-color indication. Such panels are connected to the phone 3.
Naturally, since the D315 has USB-port compatible with Wi-Fi adapter A210that allows the phone to connect to Wi-Fi networks, including those operating at a frequency of 5 GHz, as well as a DECT dongle A230, used to connect DECT headsets and Snom speaker C52SP to the telephone.
To sum up
Snom D315 will be a good assistant in everyday work for employees who care about ergonomics and sound quality. It will appeal to ordinary employees and junior managers, and complete with expansion panels will suit the secretary of a small company.
