RFID News: Sales of chipped fur coats hit… ceilings
It is strange that this news did not receive any coverage either in the media, or on Habré and GT, only the Expert.ru website wrote "a note about our boy". But it is strange, because it is “significant” in its own way, and, apparently, we are on the verge of grandiose changes in trade in the Russian Federation.

Briefly about RFID

What's happened RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) and with what it is eaten, told and shown here. Soon I will try to make a detailed review of the material accumulated in recent years. stay in touch, but for now let's get back to our sheepskin coats ...

Gray fur coats suddenly whitened

What exactly is cheese? From January 2016, XNUMX, the Government of the Russian Federation obliged all suppliers and sellers to chip fur products for accounting in the Marking system of the tax service. The project was launched to test technologies, solutions and administration for product verification using RFID chips.

The note itself about this was published in November 2016, but it caught my eye quite by accident. According to the figures given, I quote:

Totally agree 8 months, the number of fur coats sold in Russia increased by 16 (sic!) times compared to 2015.

Just think about it 16 times!!!

As of the end of 2016, it was possible to legalize about 20% of market participants, and for one reason to scold the Accounts Chamber, which provided the Ministry of Industry and Trade with data on only 400 products subject to mandatory chipization, while the actual RFID order exceeded 000 million pieces.

Each label contains information about the origin and movement of a particular fur product. Labels work in a range UHF and comply with ISO/IEC 18000-63, EPCglobal Gen2v2 standards.

Also, from January 2017, XNUMX, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched an experiment on (so far) voluntary labeling of medicines, chipping of light industry goods (in particular, shoes), valuable wood species, aircraft components, and so on is being further developed.

As you, my dear Habrausers, understand, this is not only a valuable fur, just chipping and accounting for products, but a block-chain is superimposed on top of this model, and codes sewn into RFID become unique product identifiers. Accordingly, the introduction of these technologies does not allow further use of any "calculators" of RFID numbers and handicraft recording devices to fake tags. This is undoubtedly a huge achievement of Russian science and technology in the practical implementation of tags, which currently has no equal anywhere in the world.

The Future of RFID in Russia: Medicines, Museums and More

The developer of RFID equipment and implementation company on the territory of the Russian Federation is the portfolio company of RosNano "RST-Invent". Therefore, having collected several press releases from RosNano and RST-Invest, we will look into the future of RFID in Russia.

Automatic accounting of museum and library storage objects

So Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs (FIEP) RosNano initiated a project within which employees of cultural institutions, private collectors, representatives of security companies and IT companies will be able to learn how to use modern radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies to protect, record and control the movement of art objects.

In particular, in the fall of 2016 was announcedthat the technological engineering company FIOP "Identification Technology" will develop an RFID system for the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin.

The introduction of RFID will begin with the education of museum workers in the field of contactless radio frequency identification. It is planned that the first, pilot group, which will include about 100 people, will graduate in September 2017, that is, very soon.

As for libraries, the first pilot project was launched in the library of STC-GazProm in St. Petersburg, where the storage, accounting and issuance of books are carried out automatically, thanks to RFID.

Valuable and unique industrial products

In principle, the logical continuation of product chipping initiatives will be the arrival of RFID in the jewelry industry and aviation technology (especially after recent scandal with the repair of Indian fighters, this becomes especially true). On the RST-Invest website it is proposed several solutions for different industries.

Instead of a conclusion: there is a fly in the ointment in a barrel of honey

When I started writing this review and got to the real numbers of shipped tags, it seemed to me that this is the Holy Grail of the Russian semiconductor industry. There is a company that produces tags - Micron, which is part of the Sitronics / RTI holding, there is a company that offers interesting RFID solutions on the market, both technical (antennas) and implementation - RST Invest, and there is a state order - the Tax Service plus the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It would seem an idyll, the first ones produce (let me remind you that Mikron has a full production cycle and stamps tickets for the Moscow metro, 1, 2, 3, 4), the latter are implementing, and all this is (so far) sponsored by the state order (see the success stories of Musk or Brandson, who are mastering the money of American taxpayers without stopping).

But, apparently, my rose-colored glasses are already wrinkled by life, and something nevertheless made me turn to the press service of the PCT-Ivest for an answer to one simple question: Where are the tag chips from, Zin?

It turned out that they still carry these tags to us mainly from NXP, and the RST-Invest company itself produces only antennas and mounts ready-made chips on them. They even came up with the design of such an antenna in order to immediately mount the tags of three different manufacturers: NXP, Impinj и Alien. Although five years have passed since the writing this note and contacts with Sitronics could be established.

Again, a bright dream crashed into a harsh reality ...
