Updating corporate network access. New ExtremeSwitching X435 gigabit switches

In our previous article “ExtremeSwitching X465: Universal Gigabit and Multigigabit” , we discussed the X465 series switches, which are positioned as access switches for the premium segment. In this article, we would like to introduce you to a new line of access switches for the budget segment — the ExtremeSwitching X435. This new series of switches is an upgrade to the Summit X430 line and an alternative to the ExtremeSwitching 210, which operates under FastPath OS. The X435, like all higher models, runs on the ExtremeXOS operating system.

ExtremeSwitching X435 is a non-stackable Layer 2 switch that supports static routing. The line includes a total of five models: three 8-port and two 24-port Gigabit Ethernet models with SFP uplinks of up to 4×1/2.5 Gbps. All models, except the 24-port model with PoE support, are “fanless”, ensuring silent operation and the possibility of installation in noise-sensitive environments such as offices, hotels, educational institutions, stores, shopping centers, and more.

The PoE models of ExtremeSwitching X435 support the modes “Fast” and “Perpetual-PoE”, and can deliver up to 30W per port according to the IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) standard. This enables them to power a wide range of devices, from wireless access points WiFi5/WiFi6 APs, PoS terminals, modern LED fixtures, to IP cameras with pan-zoom capabilities or low-power IoT devices. The EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) technology is supported on all access ports.

In addition to the above, PoE is used to power the X435-8P-2T-W model, which does not have a built-in power supply. At the same time, the X435-8P-2T-W (depending on available budget) can provide Pass-Through PoE of up to 100W. In general, this can significantly reduce both operational and capital costs by simplifying and accelerating installation, as well as eliminating the need for additional power line installation.
