Unpacking and packaging

Design
Consider the body of the phone. The appearance of the device from our review is classic for Snom phones: a black case made of slightly rough, pleasant to the touch plastic contains the stuffing of the device.
In addition to this design, this device can have a white body color, which is perfect for medical institutions and fits perfectly into the design of many offices.
Most of the phone's interfaces are accessible from the back of the case, here are the network interfaces, power supply connector, headset and handset ports, and a microlift-EHS connector. But the USB port has moved to the side of the case, where access to it is very, very convenient. On the back, in addition to the connectors, there are holes for wall mounting and mounting the phone stand.
On the front of the device is a screen, keyboard, speakerphone and recesses for the handset. The screen of this model is monochrome, stretched horizontally, despite its not the highest resolution, it is perfectly enough to display all the information during the operation of the phone. The backlight is bright enough to see all the available inscriptions on the display in sunny weather, and not too blinding in dim lighting.
Under the screen there are four contextual keys, along them there is a control joystick, in the form of a four-way navigation button and a key for confirming the selection and canceling the operation. It is convenient to use this design for navigating the phone's menu, the keys themselves have a clear feedback, they do not sink or fail.
Below is the dialer and BLF keys. The latter are made "in the old fashioned way", without a display, the signatures for them are supposed to be applied manually, on a special paper insert. Often this is much easier than typing the name or name of the organization from the keyboard of the device, and taking into account not the largest number of keys on the phone - there are 5 of them here, should not cause trouble to its user.
There is no rebound trigger in the upper recess of the tube, as is the case with almost all current Snom models. Rejecting the trigger reduces the number of mechanical parts of the phone, which means it increases the reliability of our device. For the user, such a feature may be somewhat unusual at first, but in the end it will turn into ease of use and awareness of the all-clear trigger as a relic of the past.
Software and setup
In setting up an IP phone, there are several main points. First, and most important in any case: registering an account. Everything is relatively simple here, we fill in the fields according to the data provided by the provider or the PBX administrator.
We write down the data we have in the "Account", "Password" and "Server Address", fill in the "Display Name" with your name or number and "Apply", and then "Save" the settings. You can check the account registration status in the "System Information" section.
The next moment, which is often necessary, is setting up BLF and other function keys. On Snom devices, almost all function keys can be reconfigured, together with BLF they are in the corresponding menu. Most of the functionality is available for all keys, of course, with the exception of the subscriber's busy indication. The specifics of setting this device is that there is no need to specify a label for BLF keys from the phone settings interface.
Function keys can be configured not only from the web interface of the device, but also using the on-screen menu. To do this, hold down the key you want to configure for a few seconds and use the navigation keys to select the desired function. After making the settings, click "Save" and use the configured functionality.

Functionality and operation
During operation, the phone is pleasant. Two-position stand allows you to place it on the desktop in a convenient way, matched angles of 28 or 46 degrees provide a good view to anyone. Information is easy to read from the screen. The dialer keys, due to their impressive size and high-quality workmanship, are pressed easily and at the same time you will not miss the right one.
Naturally, when using the phone, you pay attention to the sound. The hands-free speaker reproduces the voice clearly and loudly enough. It will not be enough for a meeting room, but there is simply no chance to miss the words of the interlocutor at your workplace. The volume of the speaker is adjustable over a very wide range, allowing you to make the sound so that it does not disturb your colleagues. The speakerphone microphone captures the sound completely without adding deafness, as is often the case in such cases.
We monitor the quality of sound and achieve a really decent sound of our devices, using our own acoustic laboratory for this. Thanks to it, the microphone and speaker of the handset also do not cause any complaints, the sound of the speaker is voluminous, all intonations of the interlocutor are transmitted, you will always understand the caller "on the other side" correctly.
The indication of the device is bright and understandable, starting from the MWI indicator, located in the upper right corner of the device, continuing with the screen and ending with the BLF keys. Normally, BLF keys only light up when using the BLF functionality itself, but we've added backlighting to other functions as well. This allows the user not to peer at the icons on the screen, but by indicating the key itself, to understand whether this function is active or not.
Accessories
As we mentioned earlier, the D7 expansion module is connected to the phone. The module allows you to significantly increase the already not the smallest number of programmable phone keys. The D7 module is very similar in design to the phone and blends very well with it, blending harmoniously into the office environment.
In addition to the expansion module, DECT and WiFi USB adapters can be connected to the phone. The A230 DECT dongle allows you to connect DECT headsets or an external speaker Snom C52 SP to your telephone, providing high sound quality and long range, thanks to the DECT standard. The A210 Wi-Fi module is used to connect the phone to the organization's WiFi networks operating in the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands.
