Open spaces have always annoyed me. Stuffiness. Fight for draft. Non-stop background noise. Everyone needs to communicate. You are constantly wearing headphones. But they don't save either. Dozens of colleagues You sit facing the wall. Everyone is watching your screen. And at any moment they strive to distract. Creeping up from the back.
Now at home in quarantine. Good luck with being able to work remotely. With beloved family. No office hustle. But it's not easy to focus either. The family demands attention.
Someday the quarantine will end. I don't want to go back to being human. I want loneliness. Increase productivity. There is an option. I imagine what it could be.
I get into the car. I find myself in a not very remote suburb. Private sector. On one of the sites - a paradise of a misanthrope remote worker-unsociable.
Large parking lot. There is always room. I get out of the car.
There are many small buildings on the site. Not even small ones. Miniature. Micro. Houses with dimensions of 2,4x3x2,5 meters. Each has its own work space.
One of these houses is mine.
The inside is spartan. Nothing extra. Table, chair, good internet. Bed, wardrobe. Yes, you can not only work here, but also sleep. live for a few days. Bezvylazno. No problem.
Comfortable atmosphere. Not hot in summer. Not cold in winter. There is always something to breathe. Air conditioner. Breather. Automation for carbon dioxide.
One of the walls is a large panoramic glass. "To the floor." In front of the window - a private micro-lawn. Small, but own. In summer you can work outside. In good weather. In winter, build a snowman. Admire them while working in the house. No one flickers before your eyes. The path behind another, deaf, wall.
The path is not easy. With a canopy. Connects workspaces to shared spaces. More houses.
One of the common spaces is the kitchen. Here you can cook and eat. There is a normal, "urban" toilet. There is a shower. There is a covered terrace. There is a room for small general meetings.
Gazebo with barbecue. Bath. Table tennis. Cinema. Here my dreams of managing loneliness became a reality.
When I need to concentrate, I work calmly. Nobody distracts by talking. No one flickers in front of your nose. I do not compete with anyone for the atmosphere and comfort.
When I want to rest, I rest. Alone or in a team. Finally, I am free to choose.
