Heptapod public hosting announced for open source projects using Mercurial

Developers of the project Heptapod, which develops a fork of the open platform of joint development GitLab Community Edition, adapted to use the Mercurial source control system, announced the on the commissioning of public hosting for Open Source projects (foss.heptapod.net) using Mercurial. Heptapod code, like GitLab, spreads under the free MIT license and can be used to deploy similar code hosting on their servers.

The launched service allows free hosting of any free and open source projects using licenses approved by OSI. In this case, there is one condition - it is required to place the logos of Heptapod sponsors (Clever Cloud and Octobus) on the official web page of the project (for example, on the page with instructions for developers). After registration, you should create an application for creating a repository in the section issues. In connection with withdrawal of support Mercurial Bitbucket Hosting will prioritize applications from projects hosted on Bitbucket.

As a reminder, starting February 1, 2020, Bitbucket will no longer allow the creation of new Mercurial repositories, and on June 1, 2020, all Mercurial-related functionality will be disabled, including the removal of Mercurial-specific APIs, and the removal of all Mercurial repositories. In addition to Heptapod, Mercurial support is also provided by services SourceForge, mozdev ΠΈ Savannah.
