Atari company announced on the acquisition of the Wonder startup, which is developing the WonderOS gaming and entertainment platform based on Android. Atari bought startup Wonder and intends to develop its game streaming service

Wonder was founded in 2016 by CEO Andy Kleinman, who previously worked at Disney. Mobile game development companies Scopely and Zynga were also co-founders.

WonderOS technology was developed to connect mobile, console and PC games into a common ecosystem. Essentially, this is an analogue of modern streaming services that combines cloud gaming and connection to a local PC. The system should also provide access to multi-platform games, entertainment applications and streaming services.

Wonder was originally slated to release its own gaming smartphone, but then plans changed and the company focused on the software side. Now all assets belong to Atari, which will thus develop its gaming infrastructure.

Kleinman has already expressed confidence that Atari will be able to develop promising Wonder technologies and bring them to market. And FrΓ©dΓ©ric Chesnais, CEO of the American company, said that Wonder technologies will accelerate mobile integration within the Atari VCS platform.

The launch date for the finished service has not yet been announced.
