A whole bunch of new problems in Windows 10: desktop cleaning, profile deletion and boot failures

As it turns out, KB4532693 causes the desktop to load without icons. The Start menu appears in the same form. It looks like the update resets the default settings by creating a temporary user profile.

The error renames the user profile in the C:Users folder, but it can be restored if you edit some branches in the registry. You can also restart Windows at least three times or simply uninstall the update. Wherein сообщаетсяthat some users have completely lost their profile data. It turned out to be impossible to return them, at least without pre-created restore points.

In addition, a number of crashes added patch KB4524244. The update caused boot failures on HP computers for a number of users. The issues seem to be related to the Sure Start Secure Boot Key Protection in the BIOS. If you disable it, then everything will be fine. Otherwise, the OS may not boot.

Issue confirmed on HP EliteBook 745 G5 with AMD Ryzen APU and EliteDesk 705 G4 Mini PC. At the same time, Lenovo analogues with the same processor have no problems. In addition, crashes have been reported on Apple computers.

According to the latest data, Microsoft ceases distribution of update KB4524244 for Windows 10 versions 1909, 1903, 1809 and even 1607. The timing of the redeployment has not yet been specified. The update itself is recommended to be uninstalled.
