According to reports from online sources, Google has started testing a new subscription for its flagship photo storage service, Google Photos. Under the subscription 'monthly photo printing', the service will automatically select the best shots, print them, and send them to users.
Currently, this subscription is available only to a select group of Google Photos users who have received an invitation. Once subscribed, users will receive 10 photographs each month, selected from those taken over the past 30 days. The description of the new feature states that its purpose is to 'deliver the best memories right to your home.' As for the cost of the new service, it is currently set at $7.99 per month.
Despite the selection of the best photos being handled by a special algorithm, users can set their desired preferences by choosing one of three available options, which the system will focus on when selecting images for printing. Users can prioritize images featuring 'people and pets,' 'landscapes,' or opt for 'a bit of everything.'
Additionally, before sending images for printing, users can edit the selected shots to enhance their appeal. Google believes that the photos created this way 'are perfect for displaying on the refrigerator or in a frame, and also make great gifts' for loved ones.
At this time, the new subscription is classified as a 'trial program' available to some users in the United States. The timeline for launching the program for all users of the service has not yet been disclosed.
