Gradually, AMD Ryzen processors are being adopted in an increasing number of computers, including ultra-compact form-factor (UCFF) desktop systems. One of the latest innovations in this category is the HP ProDesk 405 G4 mini-PC, designed for office use.
The new model measures 177 × 175 × 34 mm and weighs 1.26 kg. The base version of the ProDesk 405 G4 mini-PC is built on a dual-core Athlon Pro 200GE processor, while more advanced configurations will offer quad-core Ryzen 3 Pro 2200GE and Ryzen 5 Pro 2400GE chips. Graphics processing in the ProDesk 405 G4 is handled by integrated Vega 3, Vega 8, and Vega 11 GPUs, respectively. There are no versions with discrete graphics as they are not necessary for systems of this kind.
The maximum RAM in the ProDesk 405 G4 reaches 32 GB. It uses DDR4 memory with a frequency of 2933 MHz. For data storage, there is either a 1 TB hard drive or an NVMe SSD ranging from 128 to 512 GB, or a combination of both. The total power consumption of the system does not exceed 65 W, and it is powered by an external adapter.
It also includes wireless adapters for Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth from Intel or Realtek. Wired network connections are managed by a Realtek RTL8111EPH gigabit controller. Additionally, the ProDesk 405 G4 features six USB 3.0 ports and one optional USB 3.1 Type-C port. For monitor connectivity, there is a DisplayPort 1.2, with optional HDMI 2.0 or D-Sub available (as shown above). It also has 3.5 mm jacks for headphones and a microphone. Additionally, the option for installing a serial port and other connectors is offered.
As primarily a work tool, the HP ProDesk 405 G4 boasts support for DASH, a TPM 2.0 module, as well as HP Sure Click and BIOSphere technologies to provide protection against common types of attacks. The HP ProDesk 405 G4 will be available next month starting at $499.
