Huawei and Nutanix Announce HCI Partnership

At the end of last week, there was great news: two of our partners (Huawei and
Nutanix) announced in partnership in the field of HCI. Huawei server hardware has now been added to the Nutanix hardware compatibility list.

Huawei-Nutanix HCI is based on FusionServer 2288H V5 (it is a 2U dual processor server).

Huawei and Nutanix Announce HCI Partnership

The jointly developed solution is designed to create flexible cloud platforms capable of handling enterprise virtualization tasks, including core services, private and hybrid clouds, big data and ROBO. In the near future, we plan to receive equipment for testing from the vendor. Details under the cut.

Today, the popularity of hyperconverged systems is growing all over the world. They are built from unified blocks, which include both computing resources and data storage resources.

The benefits of hyperconvergence include:

  1. Easy and fast infrastructure launch.
  2. Easy and transparent horizontal scaling by simply increasing the number of universal blocks.
  3. Elimination of a single point of failure.
  4. Unified management console.
  5. Reduced requirements for maintenance personnel.
  6. Hardware platform independent. New features can be provided to the user without being tied to the equipment that he uses (there is no dependence on specific ASIC / FPGA).
  7. Save rack space.
  8. Increase the productivity of IT staff.
  9. Improving operational efficiency.

HCI allows you to transfer the popular cloud consumption model (the economic principle of pay-as-you-grow/on-demand) to your local on-premise infrastructure without compromising information security.

Today, there are fewer and fewer system administrators in companies, and their areas of responsibility are growing. One of the biggest tasks of a system administrator is to keep the current infrastructure running. The use of HCI saves IT staff time and allows them to focus on other activities that bring additional value to the company (for example, developing and increasing the availability of infrastructure, rather than maintaining it in its current state).

Returning to the news about the partnership: as usual, we will conduct basic tests on data security and fault tolerance of the solution as a whole in order to offer customers only proven solutions.

Synthetic tests are not the best tool for testing the performance of HCI solutions, because depending on the synthetic load profile, we can get both very good results and unsatisfactory ones. If you are interested, please suggest us your workloads and performance testing methods you are interested in. We will share the results in future posts.
