Apple iMac computers will be able to supply power to input devices wirelessly

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released Apple's patent application for an interesting development in the field of computer devices.

The document is called "Wireless Charging System With Radio-Frequency Antennas". The application was filed back in September 2017, but it has only just been made public on the USPTO website.

Apple proposes to integrate a special system of wireless power transmission to peripheral devices into desktop computers. We are talking primarily about the keyboard, mouse and touch control panel.

The energy field will be formed in a certain area on the desktop, where input devices are traditionally located. Thus, a wireless keyboard and mouse theoretically will not need a wired connection at all to recharge the built-in rechargeable battery.

It is likely that such a system will be implemented in iMac desktop computers and, possibly, in Apple monitors in the future. However, so far nothing has been reported about the timing of the commercial implementation of the proposed solution.
