Counterpoint Research has released its forecast for the global true wireless in-ear headphones market for the coming years.
We are talking about devices like Apple AirPods. These headphones do not have a wired connection between the modules for the left and right ear.
According to estimates, last year the volume of the world market for these products amounted to approximately 46 million units in physical terms. And about 35 million pieces fell on AirPods. Thus, the "apple" empire occupied approximately three-quarters of the global industry.
The global market for fully wireless in-ear headphones is expected to explode in the coming years. So, in 2020, shipments of such devices will reach 129 million units. If this forecast is justified, sales compared to last year will increase by almost three times.
It is noted that, in addition to Apple, the leading market players will be Samsung, Bose, Jabra, Huawei, Bragi, LG, etc.
Analysts from Counterpoint Research also estimate that the global market for fully wireless in-ear headphones will reach $2021 billion by 27.
