The Sourcegraph search engine, aimed at indexing publicly available source texts, has been expanded to include the ability to search and navigate through the source texts of all packages distributed via the Fedora Linux repository, in addition to the previously provided search through GitHub and GitLab projects. Over 34,500 packages with source texts from Fedora have been indexed. Flexible tools are provided for filtering based on repositories, packages, programming languages, or function names, along with a visual view of the found code that allows for analysis of function calls and variable definitions.
Initially, the developers of Sourcegraph aimed to increase the index size to 5.5 million repositories with more than one star on GitHub or GitLab, but realized that merely indexing GitHub and GitLab was insufficient for complete coverage of open source software, as many projects do not use these platforms. The optimal solution recognized was additional indexing of source texts from distribution repositories. As for the code from GitHub and GitLab, the index currently includes about 2.2 million repositories with six stars or more.
