Release of the free video editor Avidemux 2.8.0

A new version of the video editor Avidemux 2.8.0 is available, designed to handle simple tasks such as cutting videos, applying filters, and encoding. It supports a wide range of file formats and codecs. Task execution can be automated using job queues, scripting, and project creation. Avidemux is distributed under the GPL license and is available in builds for Linux (AppImage), macOS, and Windows.

• A setting has been added for loading sequentially named images in reverse order, which can be used to create videos played backward by exporting selected frames to JPEG and loading them in reverse order.

• The cropping filter now supports a semi-transparent green mask during previews. The quality of the automatic cropping mode has been improved.
• The ‘Resample FPS’ and ‘Change FPS’ filters now support frame rates up to 1000 FPS, and in the ‘Resize’ filter, the maximum output resolution has been increased to 8192×8192.
• Scaling for HiDPI screens during previews has been improved.
• The x264 encoder plugin now includes the ability to change color properties.
• In the clip position change dialog, the insertion of values in the format 00:00:00.000 is permitted.
• The PulseAudioSimple sound device has been replaced with full PulseAudio support, allowing volume control from the application.
