An alternative build of the SSH client PuTTY 0.84 has been released, enhanced with features drawn from the KiTTY fork, which was discontinued three years ago. The transfer of functionality from KiTTY to the current PuTTY codebase was largely accomplished using ChatGPT/Codex. The changes pertain only to the interface and usability, with no interference in the core logic of PuTTY.
Some of the most notable changes include:
- Storing sessions and settings in separate files.
- A separate launcher in the system tray.
- The ability to adjust the font size with the 'Ctrl+mouse wheel' combination.
- Automatic saving of window size and position.
- The combination 'Ctrl+Shift+left mouse click' to open a URL.
- By default, cursor operation is in 'xterm-style bitmap', allowing the cursor in Midnight Commander to display and function correctly.
