Lansweeper has analyzed the distributions used on 200,000 scanned Linux systems in anticipation of the end of support for CentOS 7, which expires on June 30. The selection criteria for the systems surveyed haven't been detailed, but it likely reflects statistics from corporate clients using Lansweeper's inventory platform. The most popular distribution was Ubuntu, with a share of 32.24%. In second place was CentOS at 26.05%, followed by Red Hat Enterprise Linux at 20.11%. Debian accounted for 7.05%, while Fedora Linux had 2.5%.
A significant percentage was noted for the Raspbian distribution (4.35%), used on Raspberry Pi boards. Rocky Linux was employed on 1.34% of systems, while Oracle Linux was present on 3.87%. SUSE Linux Enterprise comprised 1.25%, and openSUSE stood at 0.07%. Linux Mint was installed on 0.69% of systems, whereas Astra Linux had 0.02%. Although the study focused on Linux, the FreeBSD operating system also appeared in the statistics (0.46%).
