The Arch Linux developers have announced the cessation of Python 2 package delivery in the project's repositories. The Python 2 branch was designated as unsupported back in January 2020, but it took a considerable amount of time afterwards to gradually rework packages dependent on Python 2.
For users who require Python 2, there is an option to retain the packages in the system, but they will remain vulnerable to security update issues. Those needing Python 2 packages with fixes are recommended to use AUR or unofficial repositories.
