A new version has been released Ardour — a free digital audio workstation. The main changes from version 5.12 are primarily architectural and may not always be noticeable to the end user. Overall, the application has become more user-friendly and stable than ever.
Key innovations:
- End-to-end latency compensation.
- A new high-quality resampling engine for variable playback speed (varispeed).
- The ability to monitor input and playback simultaneously (cue monitoring).
- The ability to record from any point in the signal chain.
- Grid and snap functionality have been separated.
- Improved MIDI processing: no more stuck notes, strange behavior in loops, etc.
- Plugin port management added: you can insert new instances of a plugin, split signals to route them to different plugin inputs, etc.
- Support for different input and output devices when using ALSA as the engine has been introduced.
- A PulseAudio engine has been introduced (for playback only).
