A new version has been released Ardour — a free digital audio workstation.
The main innovation is the support for VST3 plugin API across all operating systems where the program runs. Additionally, it supports extensions from PreSonus. They enable the plugin to receive information about the scaling of the interface on high-density screens, embed a miniature version of the plugin interface into the host, etc.
Also among the changes:
- accelerated rendering of all available MIDI automation channels at once;
- accelerated export — both general and by file to track (stem);
- export of session metadata to WAV and AIFF;
- a multitude of other improvements and fixes.
At the same time, a large-scale effort in the nutempo2 branch is nearing completion. In this git branch, the code is being rewritten based on the superclock concept. The refactoring will help avoid errors when working with MIDI and audio data related to rounding numbers. Before the 7.0 release, one or two more versions in the 6.x series may appear with these changes.
