The release of the proprietary RAR archiver version 7.10 has taken place.
Change log for the console version:
- 32-bit versions of Linux and FreeBSD for x86 are no longer supported.
- The environment variable name that stores the default RAR key set has been changed from RAR to RARINISWITCHES. It is quite common for batch files to use the environment variable name RAR to store the path to the RAR executable, which previously led to naming conflicts.
- When adding files to an existing RAR archive, directories previously stored in that archive are moved to follow the newly added files. Thus, the timestamps of directories are set after extracting all files and are not changed when files are created within those directories.
- A temporary file is no longer created by the command rar ch -tl unless such archive modification keys as -rr or -z are specified. The modification time of the newest archive file is now set directly based on the original archive file, without copying archive data. This speeds up disk writing and data processing.
- If the archive is truncated on blocks with recovery data or for quick archive opening, a message about the type of truncated block will be additionally output after the standard "Unexpected end of archive".
- Error corrections:
- If new files were added to an existing partially continuous RAR archive created with the -se or -s switches, they might have been corrupted. This issue does not affect regular continuous archives created with -s, nor does it affect non-continuous archives.
- Although long-distance data search is not used with the compression method -m1 (Fast), the keys -m1 -mcl+ or -m1 -mcl with a compression dictionary of 256 MB or more still allocated the memory required for the long-distance search algorithm.
