Asahi Linux has officially supported Apple devices with M3 chips.

The developers of the Asahi project, aimed at porting Linux to work on Mac computers equipped with ARM chips created by Apple, have announced the implementation of official support for Mac computers with Apple M3 chips. The support extends to devices in the MacBook and iMac series M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max (Mac Studio/M3 Ultra is not yet supported).

The level of hardware support for Apple M3 is close to that of M1 and M2 devices, including support for webcams, built-in microphones, USB, Bluetooth, and AV1 video decoding acceleration. Functionality limitations include incomplete support for the display controller (DCP) and GPU, as well as insufficient performance and energy efficiency when using 3D acceleration. Due to incomplete DCP support, which is expected to be improved soon, the HDMI port is disabled on MacBook and there are issues with transitioning to sleep mode.
