The new web browser Blanc is available, offering a unique interface with a minimalist floating panel that replaces traditional tab and tool panels, combining features for URL input, searching, tab switching, navigation, and executing commands. The reason for creating the new browser is said to be the desire to restore web pages to their primary role, eliminating excesses and clutter, such as built-in AI assistants. The code is written in JavaScript using the Electron platform and Chromium engine, and is distributed under the MIT license. AI tools are utilized during development. Builds are created for Linux (AppImage), Windows, and macOS.
Tabs are displayed in a dropdown list that appears when focus is switched to the address bar. The browser supports grouping tabs, unloading tab contents from memory without closing the tabs themselves, and displaying two selected tabs side by side in one window. When typing "/" in the address bar, a command list appears, used instead of a traditional menu.
By default, ad and tracker blocking is enabled at the network level, using EasyList and EasyPrivacy lists. Tabs in private mode open in a separate session, storing all data only in RAM. It is possible to separate history, downloads, site data, and permissions granted to sites through profiles.
