Clifm 1.24

March 2, after more than a month of development, the release of 1.24 (named after Herman Toothrot from the game series Monkey Island) console file manager Clifm, Clifm is a file manager with a text interface, designed with the principles of command line interface design in mind, rather than TUI design, like the excellent Midnight Commander and Ranger.

The program is written in C and is distributed under the GNU GPL 2.0 license.

List of major changes:

  • Significantly reduced the size of postscript thumbnails (by 1500%!), displayed by the clifmimg script.
  • Preview functionality now supports multiple image formats (including dpx, jp2, miff, sgi, and wmf).
  • In the configuration files mimelist.clifm and preview.clifm, the variable %m now expands to the file's MIME type.
  • Support for OpenRaster images (opening and preview) has been added.
  • Auto-detection support for Sixel in the terminal emulator has been added. Yaft.
  • Support for opening archives .rpm, .deb, .arj, .Z, and .cab has been added.
  • Support for previewing files in archives .ztd, .rpm, and .deb has been added.
  • The preview now supports Krita images (.kra and .krz).
  • An option PrioritySortChar has been added to the configuration file, allowing filenames starting with PrioritySortChar to be placed at the top of the file list.
  • The ShowHiddenFiles option has been enhanced with two new values, first and last, to display hidden files first or last, respectively.
  • Support for the OSC-7 control sequence for signaling the current directory to the terminal emulator has been added. To enable this feature, clifm needs to be run with the parameter —report-cwd.
  • Detected bugs have been fixed.
