Six months after the publication of the prototype Windows-like operating system C:\Deb, the first alpha version of the project was formed, receiving a new name - CusDeb OS. Unlike the prototype, which was an ordinary Linux environment styled after Windows 95/98 using PCManFM, LXPanel, and other components, CusDeb OS Alpha 1 offers a full classic Win32 environment based on custom components of ReactOS running through Wine. The user environment is developing as part of CusDeb OS under the name CDEX (CusDeb Desktop Environment X) and represents an edition of the ReactOS shell adapted to work without the kernel of this operating system.

At this stage, CDEX contains only minimal changes aimed at eliminating various issues in the performance of the Win32 environment on Linux. In the future, the developers plan to enhance it further by adding features that are currently not implemented in ReactOS.
As with the prototype, the base system remains Debian 13. A live system (894 MB) is offered for booting, which can be run in virtual machine or on a physical computer.
The developers of CusDeb OS set a goal to bring the system to a state within a year in which it could become a full-fledged alternative to Windows 10. The project is authored by Evgeny Golyshev, who maintains the Elixir package in Debian.
Among the main objectives for the second alpha version:
- Transition to a 64-bit version of CDEX (currently, the 32-bit version of CDEX is used in a 64-bit Linux system).
- Support for Direct3D 3-11 through D7VK and DXVK.
- Migration of the graphics environment from Xorg to Wayland.
