The developers of the Debian project have announced that the package base of Debian 11 "Bullseye" has entered the full freeze stage, during which the transfer of key packages and packages without autopkgtests from unstable to testing will be completely halted, and the phase of intensive testing and fixing blocking release issues will begin. In special cases, packages from unstable may be manually transferred, but this requires approval from the release preparation team.
Let’s remember that on January 15, 2021, the first stage of the freeze for the Debian 11 package base was completed, during which the execution of transitions (updating packages that requires adjusting dependencies of other packages, resulting in the temporary removal of packages from Testing) was halted, as well as updates for essential build packages. On February 12, a soft freeze of the package base occurred, during which the acceptance of new source packages was stopped and the possibility of re-including previously removed packages was closed.
Currently, there are 240 critical release blocking bugs (compared to 472 two months ago, 316 at the time of Debian 10 freeze, 275 for Debian 9, 350 for Debian 8, and 650 for Debian 7). The final release of Debian 11 is expected in the summer.
