Digicert is revoking 50,000 TLS certificates with extended validation.

Digicert Certificate Authority intends On July 11, approximately 50,000 EV (Extended Validation) TLS certificates will be revoked (Extended Validation). The revocation affects certificates issued by accredited certificate authorities that are not included in audit reports.
EV certificates validate the claimed identification parameters and require the certificate authority to verify domain ownership documents and the physical presence of the resource owner.

Rules, governing the activities of certificate authorities, mandate a full audit when issuing EV certificates. The published DigiCert audit reports for EV certificates covered only the main infrastructure and did not include accredited certificate authorities established between August 2013 and February 2018 (the audit reports for these certificate authorities published only general audit reports, while detailed reports on EV certificates were omitted).

In order to remedy the identified violation DigiCert agreed to revoke the EV certificates not mentioned in the audit reports issued by accredited certificate authorities using intermediate certificates. DigiCert Global CA G2, GeoTrust TLS RSA CA G1,
