Docker Inc has announced the release of the Linux version of the Docker Desktop application, which provides a graphical interface for creating, running, and managing containers. Previously, the application was available only for Windows and macOS. Installation packages for Linux have been prepared in deb and rpm formats for Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora distributions. Additionally, experimental packages for ArchLinux are offered, and packages for Raspberry Pi OS are being prepared for release.
Docker Desktop enables users to easily create, test, and publish microservices and applications on their workstation through a simple graphical interface, operating in container isolation environments. It includes components such as Docker Engine, CLI client, Docker Compose, Docker Content Trust, Kubernetes, Credential Helper, BuildKit, and a vulnerability scanner. The program is free for personal use, education, non-commercial open source projects, and for small businesses (fewer than 250 employees and annual revenue under $10 million).
