This data was collected from a counter placed on 1.5 million websites. Notably, 8 months ago, the share of desktop Linux distributions crossed the 3% mark and had remained relatively stable until November, after which Linux began to gradually strengthen its position — in November, the share of Linux was 3.22%, in December — 3.83%, and in January — 3.77%.
Meanwhile, a decline in the popularity of the ChromeOS operating system is noted, with its share decreasing from 4% to 2.26% over 6 months. Thus, if we consider Chrome OS, the overall share of desktop Linux systems fell from 7.23% to 6.29% in 8 months. When looking at all operating systems, including mobile, the leader is the Android platform, which uses the Linux kernel, with a share of 43.74%, followed by Windows at 27.39%, iOS at 17.82%, macOS at 5.87%, and Linux at 1.54%.
