New statistics on the distribution of various editions of the Android operating system in the global market have been presented.
It is noted that the data is as of May 7, 2019. Versions of the Android software platform with a market share of less than 0.1% are not considered.
Currently, the most widely used edition of Android is Oreo (versions 8.0 and 8.1), with an approximate share of 28.3%.
The 'silver' goes to the Nougat platforms (versions 7.0 and 7.1), which together hold 19.2% of the market. Closing the top three is the Marshmallow 6.0 operating system with 16.9%. About 14.5% belongs to the Lollipop family (5.0 and 5.1).
The share of the latest operating system, Pie (9.0), has exceeded 10% and currently stands at approximately 10.4%.
About 6.9% is attributed to the KitKat 4.4 operating system. The Jelly Bean platforms (versions 4.1.x, 4.2.x, and 4.3) together occupy approximately 3.2% of the global Android market.
Finally, both the Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3–4.0.4) and Gingerbread (2.3.3–2.3.7) operating systems hold 0.3% each.
